The LPMMC is a joint research unit in physics regrouping diverse theoretical competences under supervision of the Université Joseph Fourier ([UJF->http://www.ujf-grenoble.fr]) and of the Centre National de la Recherche Scientifique ([CNRS->http://www.cnrs.fr]). The laboratory was first dedicated to numerical physics, it is now mainly oriented towards condensed matter and quantum physics.
The LPMMC is a member of the [PhD school of Grenoble->http://doctorat.univ-grenoble-alpes.fr/fr/presentation-du-doctorat/les-ecoles-doctorales/ecole-doctorale-de-physique-576097.htm], and is involved in local projects — such as the labex [LANEF->http://www.grenoble-lanef.fr/], the project [PHYNUM->art216] for the numerical aspects and the [CTPGA->http://cptga.grenoble.cnrs.fr] for the theoretical aspects, and in national projects through the [GDR COMPLEXE->https://www.lkb.upmc.fr/gdrcomplexe/] and the [GDS EcoINFO->http://ecoinfo.cnrs.fr]
Young and international, the laboratory entertains numerous students and visitors.
